The Top Canterbury Scrum Cap Designs

By Larry Li

I have been participating in Rugby for several years. The question I get asked time and time again is where do I buy my scrum caps from? I have always picked seriously colourful headguard and evidently this kind of gets the interest of my team. I really enjoy it, and so I generally encourage them to obtain their own, and not merely for the safety element of wearing a headguard in the game.

It probably allows the opponent see me as well, and I admit that may not be a very good thing. Sporting something that is so vivid and attention grabbing enables you to be become more recognisable. Making yourself a target to the competitors in this way is not the greatest idea. But that doesn't really bother me in the slightest. I would much rather use an exciting and over-the-top headguard instead of than an ordinary, boring one.

Because I like all of the distinctive scrum cap types, I tend to acquire three or four every season. They are not greatly expensive and I like to change things up a little between games and training. What can I say? I am just a big fan! My favourite brand is definitely Canterbury since they develop the most attractive scrum caps. They have an "uglies" design which is especially eye-catching and I confess I have been through a number of these designs.

I also like the design of Gilbert scrum caps and I have gotten several of these through the years. Nonetheless they in no way get quite the same amount of notice as the Canterbury scrum caps, therefore I consistently find myself returning to Canterbury Scrum Caps. Both of those offer you excellent protection though, and I believe they are both good, reliable brand names with regard to protective gear such as this.

Personally, I would never play a game of rugby without my scrum cap. Even just in friendly matches, I enjoy experiencing that additional feeling of protection. I do know they may never supply 100% security, nevertheless it's better than nothing. After hearing many of the horror stories which do the rounds in the changing rooms and online discussion boards, even if they aren't true, I made the decision quickly that I wanted to wear a scrum cap.

Wearing a vibrant scrum cap for rugby is becoming bit of a trademark for me personally and all of my fellow team mates recognize me for it now. There has even been situations when folks have had trouble to recognize me at the club house following a match because I did not have my headguard on! I do know, it sounds extreme. But it's a part of me and my own personal identity now and I suppose people think it is peculiar if I stray from it. Also to be honest, my scalp feels odd if I stray from it as well!
